foxfire's frequently asked questions
What makes The Defender different than the other boat alarms on the market?
The Defender is more than an alarm system - it is the first complete theft deterrent system engineered specifically for bass boats. Foxfire has built this system from the ground up utilizing state of the art technology and thorough research of what bass boat owners need. This is not a pre-manufactured alarm altered to fit a boat like so many other systems out there.
The Defender is the only system on the market to incorporate the remote notification pager, which is vital to bass boat theft deterrence. If you don't know someone's messing with your boat the moment it happens, it will be too late to stop the theft or recover your boat later.

Does it actually work?
Yes. Foxfire Alarms knows how important it is to have a quality system that actually performs the way it promises. For this reason, The Defender has been rigorously field tested in every environment you as a bass angler encounter, and our pro anglers on the Foxfire Team can vouch for its effectiveness.

How far away can I be from my rig to still have the remote work?
The Defender's remote notification pager's line of sight range comes close to 1 mile. With natual interference of buildings, trees, hills, etc. the remote notification pager will alert you up to 500 yards away. The remote's status button and LED light audibly and visually inform the bass boat owner of "in-range" and "out-of-range" status, as well as "armed" or "disarmed" status.

Can I just install the system on my boat myself?
At the current time The Defender must be factory or dealer installed, simply to ensure correct performance levels of the system after installation. Keep checking the websites for new products and options as they are announced.

Where can I get The Defender?
As it is currently a factory or dealer install only, contact your local boat dealer for information for purchase and installation information.

How much is it?
The Defender's purchase price will be set by the dealers themselves, but most will keep the system under $1,000.

Will it work for my bass boat stored in a dock house?
Yes, as long as the boat is secured above the water. The Defender's motion sensor was designed to know the difference between slight wind swaying and actual theft. All other attributes of the theft deterrent system will effectively protect your boat and alert you, the owner, of tampering.

Will it work for my boat while it's in a slip?
At the current time, no. The rocking of the boat in the water and occasional bumping into the dock itself will trigger the motion and tilt sensors of the system. The Defender was primarily to monitor bass boats while secured on the trailer. As mentioned above, it would also work while the boat is secured above the water in a dock house.
Keep checking the websites for new products and options as they are announced.
